Sorry state that it is, but companies are very reluctant to spend money
unless they know that there's a definate return of investment. A bit like
the music business.
The end times economy, why take risks when you can exploit.
The bubble has well and truely burst, no time to sit around waiting for it
to get better. Would you trust a VC anymore ?

I agree, I think I am going to take it down the JCA route. The software does
work but would there need to be development on the interpretation of the
output.
But isn't it typical of the UK that when there are loads of very good people
available companies don't take advantage of extremely low developer rates
and get systems developed a lot cheaper and be ahead of the competition.

I think the better approach would be to get a working version and not expect
a company to rush in a plough a lot of cash in development. As well as
laying off programmers left right and centre (I'm in the UK as well) they
are loathed to spend cash in R+D
I'd developed an airline ticketing system ages ago, but why bother when
Openskies had the whole thing sewn up and were making a fortune (and I mean
fortune)..... me vs them... no way.
Get your product finished and tested then start to approach some people.
Some guy did a cold fusion server in Java....... can't remeber what his name
was now.....

After spending lots of time scouring the net I have come to know about Jawin
and all the other Java to Com tools. In order to use them they would all
need to have code written for each application and the application itself
would need to written specially for external access.
I am talking about a general purpose Win32 Application Bridge; some
applications are a little friendlier than others but in general a legacy VB
app can be controlled 24/7 by an application server.
So far in my research I have not found anything that takes an existing
application and turns it into an XML DOM ready for use by J2EE!!!

time, but I do not know where to go next.
I am one of many freelance Java developers based in the UK who are out of
work. While I hope the market will improve very soon I have taken the time
to develop a prototype product, which I hope a company would like to develop
it further.
The product is a Java to Win32 Bridge, which enables legacy Windows
applications to be controlled from a browser via an application server.
Can anyone out there suggest a next step?
