The discussion may have taken the form of a dialog, but it was hardly
a "personal email exchange".  With very few exceptions, every word I
have written in this discussion is either directed at:
   o  solving the original problem surrounding double arithmetic
   o  discussing the relative merits of alternative solutions
   o  correcting incorrect or misleading statements by others
   o  clarifying vague statements by others

I believe I am well within the spirit of the group to do so and I
certainly won't try to justify myself to you again.

I am sure that many who are only interested in high level Java API
functionality stopped reading this thread a long time ago.  You
should feel free to do the same.

Incidentally, since you didn't change the subject header most of the
people who would be interested mostly in high level APIs probably
didn't read your message at all.  May be you should send that last
paragraph with a different subject header.
