Title: RE: [jdjlist] RE: Which IDE to use
Ok, here the things that either have changed on my "desktop"s (I'm quite mobile due to my "profession") since my last postings regarding editors ,OSes and eMail clients
or that might be interesting according to other posts in this "Which IDE to use and extra utilities" thread.

1.) I've paralleled (not updated) to WindowsXP (yes, it really lets external hardware work better in comparison to Windows2000 SE)

2.) WinAmp has succeeded to become the standard .WAV/.mp3 player/recorder on one of the systems
I relatively seldom listen to MP3 music - I more like .MID files which you can change e.g. regarding instrumentation if you have a program like the "Orchestrator" .
I have a bit of a musical background , too - years ago we became LOUD by putting about 20 people with nearly the same instrument into the concert hall - not via an amplifier.

3.) I don't use Outlook any more (except on the XP machine where an a bit helplessly looking 'Norton Antivirus' tries to fully scan outgoing eMails for virusses before they're gone forever - but nevertheless it successfully defends the inbox)

4.) I've found a solution for the mentioned iPaq editor problem :
The internal PocketC IDE + the external "pocketpad" tool.
Latter finally successfully imports ASCII files (!!!) [ generated on the PC with Borlands (C++ 4.x) IDE ] via the WinCE clipboard and has a lot of features (like lower/upper case conversion) from the SunOS GUI editors which were our favourites at the University - besides Emacs (on the PCs) that I personally couldn't get customed to.

5.) not for the "Guiness Books of Records" - but for the multi-monitor fans in this thread:
Once a week - when the computer room was empty - we used 8 Sun workstations (with an 8 * 20'' b/w monitor area and "overwhelming" 8*20 Mhz processor "power" to do some neuronal network experiments at the University)
