I also have a virus checker that also scans all incoming email.  It occasionally finds some which turn out to be suspicious in nature so I assume it works.  It did not flag your email and I opened your attachment safely.  I am under the impression that a raw data files such as jpeg or even txt cannot contain viruses.  Email propagated viruses try to trick unwary people by sending attachments called somename.jpg.exe to get them to open what they think is a "safe" attachment.

This is just my $0.02 worth as I have only a casual familiarity with viruses.

No sorry --- I sent an email saying that I was sure that I did not have a virus -- because I have Norton Antivirus and the latest virus definitions AND I did a whole system scan which came up negative.
I was enquiring whether anybody else on the list had had any similar experiences ?
I am sure that it was an error by the listserv computer -- and wanted to confirm that with anyone who had experience in this area.
