Brian, Sorry, I wasn't clear.
This symlink is created because libsmbclient (part of Samba, in SFW) links with libgnutls.so.12. (See Padraig's original mail quoted below.) So my question was whether there is a contract between SFW and JDS for using gnutls in samba.
