Benson,
What was the context for the mesaage from Siemens? Not being in the US,
isn't it an *import* :-)
Was this a info message to all users? Note to devs etc? Now? By graduation?
We do need to do this. Only case I'm aware of is a possibility of
needing to (optionally) add BouncyCastle to get SHA-224 but currently
it's not used. Otherwise it's as per proposal "No specific cryptography."
"Do digest algorithms such as MD5 and SHA1 require notification?
No. Such one-way algorithms as MD5 or SHA1, or more sophisticated
implementations, do not require notification - only encryption
algorithms." -- http://www.apache.org/dev/crypto.html
But (and not knowing BouncyCastle well enough) if ARQ includes it for
the hash function, all the rest of the cyrpto comes too even if not used.
It's MIT X11 License - taking the source code of that one small part
might be possible.

A few incubator projects are listed.
All,
Anyone want to deal with this?
