Since replacing my tires (thanks for the advice, Sherman, I did put on the MX-3's
and love 'em), the JH is running fine, and I've turned my attention to other
automotive issues. SWMBO's old '95 Camry is up on the rack, and I'm trying
to replace CV joints. Am hoping to find someone who has advice on this.

The left shaft came out fine, just as the manual said. Splined shaft pushes
into the transaxle, with a groove around the splined area and a metal retaining
ring in there. The right side, with the intermediate shaft, is another matter.

I removed the clip that holds the bearing in its carrier (at the end of the
intermediate shaft) and removed the retaining bolt from the carrier. The manual
says to "grasp the shaft and pull firmly" to remove it from the transaxle.
No such luck.

I initially thought the bearing was rusted in place, but have that freed up.
Any wisdom on how the splined shaft could be stuck in the transaxle? I have
tried multiple things, but this thing won't budge.

If anyone has a reference to a Toyota D-I-Y site that would be great. Any and
all ideas are very much appreciated, even general front-wheel-drive info.
