Ah. This sounds like a likely explanation; I will post more when I've
investigated. The GEF is required only by the  Rete network viewer
plugin, and not any other part of the JessDE; but I do have
org.eclipse.gef listed in the "requires" section of the feature.xml
file of gov.sandia.jess.feature. I've got GEF 3.1.1 installed, and the
feature.xml file doesn't actually specify a version, but who knows.

Mike, if you want to experiment: install the gov.sandia.jess.feature
plugin by unzipping it so it ends up in
{ECLIPSE}/features/gov.sandia.jess.feature, then edit feature.xml to
remove the line 

<import plugin="org.eclipse.gef"/>

Then restart Eclipse. Does this fix the problem?
