Dear Friend, We should never postpone doing the enjoyable things in life simply because we think there's no time in the present. Many times we place in the future the things that we want to do now and simply hope that one day we will get around to doing that "fun" activity. What we must keep in mind is that today is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it. We are to enjoy each day that we are alive and relish the precious moments that we have with our friends and family. (Ecclesiastes 3:1-11) (Psalm 118:24) I hope you are encouraged by today's message to no longer wait for the future to do the things that have been kept on your to-do-list, but rather renew your mind and know that today is the best day to do the enjoyable things that have been kept in your to-do handbook. SOMEDAY I was sitting in an office waiting room the other day. This normally busy time was quiet and peaceful for a change. Sitting nearby was a young mother and child. I was reading one of the magazines when I overheard the two of them talking. "Mommy, when is someday?" the young child asked as she thumbed through a book. "When is what?" Mom replied. "Someday!" "Why do you ask that?" "Well, you always tell me, 'Someday we will...' So I want to know when will someday come?" Mom paused for a moment trying to find an answer that would appease her young, inquisitive child. "It's right after somewhere, somehow and sometime," mom answered smiling. "Mom! I mean it! It just seems someday will never come." "Oh, it will. I've got to believe it will," mom said with a more serious tone. There was silence in the room once more. It got me thinking about my "somedays." I know I too, have said that many times to my own children. "Someday we'll go camping." That never happened. "Someday you, Evan and I will take a day and just have fun together. We'll do guy things. You know just the three of us." That hasn't happened either. Of course, according to that woman, someday comes after somewhere, somehow and sometime. "I'll take you somewhere special. All I have to do is find the time somehow. Well, we'll do it sometime, I promise." I'm not a big sports fan. But I watch football whenever I can. In particular the playoffs and the Super Bowl. I don't know all the rules for the game and I really don't want to. You see, I don't watch the game. I watch the people. After hearing that mother and child and thinking about my somedays, I discovered the answer in the eyes of the guys running with the football. Every one of them had the same look in their eyes. Determination. Men were after them from all angles, but their focus was on the goal. They knew where they were headed and in that brief moment each and every time they believed they were going to get there. Every time. Even after being dragged to the ground, slammed head first into the dirt, they would rise immediately, celebrate what they had accomplished and start again. Never once did they think, "Someday I'll make a touchdown. Somewhere I'll find an opening and somehow get to the other end of the field. Sometime in my career I'll cross that goal line!" It would never happen, would it? It's wonderful to dream. I am a dreamer. But the things that I really wanted in life had to move from the dream stage, to the planning stage and on to reality. So what's the answer to "When is someday?" When I choose to make it happen. Like right now, today. How many somedays do you have in your life? By Bob Perks [EMAIL PROTECTED] Be encouraged to take the initiative and set a specific time for you and your family to do a fun activity together. Don't wait for the tomorrows' that we keep promising ourselves, but rather make a decision that you are going to enjoy to the fullest the time that you have with those who are nearest to your heart. (Habakkuk 3:18-19) (James 4:13-15) (Ephesians 5:21-29) Read and meditate on these scriptures: Psalm 37:3-6 "Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass. And He shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday." 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 "Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of His goodness, and the work of faith with power: That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ." 2 Timothy 3:16-17 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
