court_justiceThe high court has suspended the hearing of the case
against Major General Marial Nuor Jok - the director of Public
Security and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) who was arrested
last month.

The presiding judge, Malek Mathian Malek, pushed the hearing for next
Monday pending on a review of the charges against the accused.
Jok's defence lawyer has challenged the basis on which his client was arrested.

Speaking to journalists following the first sitting, Kiir Chol said
the detention was illegal and contrary to South Sudan's transitional
constitution.
The South Sudan inspector of police Lieutenant General Achuil Tito
Madut ordered the arrest of Major General Marial Nuor Jok last July.
Five charges were made against Jok , including involvement in the
disappearance of engineer John Louis after a land dispute.
