Dr. Riek Machar's Apology to Dinka Bor, is it an allegation or conspiracy? BY: Gatwech Choul, USA
AUG. 13/2011, SSN; Dear fellow Countrymen, I was quite shocked to learn through the public news that Dr. Riek Machar has finally apologized to Dinka Bor after long negative media campaigns against him by the Bor Dinka. If this allegation is proven to be authentic that he has shamefully apologized to Dinka Bor in regard to 1991 atrocious incident, then Dr. Riek Machar has decided unknowingly to put a legal noose around his neck and could be trailed to ICC for that case. I am so regretful and ashamed to see that Dr. Riek Machar, who is a national icon and Nuer greater son has eventually given in and surrendered to Dinka Bor's heinous hatred against him and the entire Nuer. Shame on him, if this is a true allegation. As a Nuer, I am so ashamed and embarrassed to see our national icon who is Nuer to have confessed to a coward Bor, (SPLA propaganda program presenter on the South Sudan TV) Brig-General Malaak Ayuen's interview. Why would Dr. Riek Machar be interviewed by Malaak Ayuen is also his other mistake. Curse on Dr Riek and Peter Gatdet for having shamed the whole Nuer. Lastly, if Dr. Riek has to apologize to the public of South Sudanese due to 1991 atrocities, he is supposed to apologize to all the Greater Upper Nile Dinka, including the neighboring Padang sub-tribes Dinkas such as Paweny, Luac, Ngok-Lual Yak, Aloor, Nyiel, Rut, and Panaruu. Because these tribes had suffered heavy ethnic atrocities under the forces of Dr. Riek Machar. An estimated number around their hundreds to thousands is believed to have been lost to the Nasir Faction forces in 1990s. I would also like to suggest that some other neighbors such as Shilluk, Maban, and Bhar el ghazel Dinkas had also died innocently under no mercy of Dr. Riek Machar 's forces. Therefore, the fact that Dr. Riek Machar should apologize to only one victim community like Bor while forgetting the rest of the aforementioned victim communities is a total outrage that is worthy of condemnation in all forms. Dink Bor has suffered equally just like other communities with the exception of minimal differences in casualties in the 1991 ethnic cleansing. I am wondering whether every victim community should have to be outspoken and campaign negatively like Bor in order to be apologized to just like Bor community. It is a question Dr Riek Machar should answer for himself. Dinka Bor should also understand that their community is not the lone victim of the 1991 Nasir Faction split. I believe that should they all come forward as victim communities and demand an apology from Dr Riek, then I think the other communities would represent heavy ethnic casualties against Dr Riek than Bor Dinka. In this article, I am not citing ethnic trepidation against Dr Riek, but I am reprimanding Dr Riek Machar for his miscalculation and stupidity to humiliate the entire Nuer through this unprofessional and cowardice apology and surrender to Dinka Bor while other victim communities deserve an apology too. It is an absurdity and must be condemned vehemently in all forms due to the fact that Dr. Riek Machar has humiliated Nuer community and replicated a legal lawsuit against himself in disgust by allowing himself to be foolishly lured into confession and admission of a heinous atrocity he had been in denial ever since he rejoined the SPLA/M in 2002. All Dinka communities should also expect too that we the Nuer community of Jikany Community shall also make a case against Bor Community too in the name of our civilians murdered in 1980s under the Marxist John Garang de Mabior. Our Nuer civilians were massacred too by Dr John Garang and that would also backfire against Dinka Bor community. Jikany Nuer will demand an apology too from Bor in the name of Dr John Garang. I wish Dr Riek Machar should have apologized unanimously to all the victim communities without singling out Dinka Bor specifically. This is a shame and slap on Nuer. Moreover, I am not advocating for ethnic hatred at all but mine was to scold Dr. Riek Machar's wrong move and his naivety to foresee his fate over this coward admission and surrender to Dinka Bor at last. Every Dinka Bor is now laughing in his or her house for having made Dr. Riek Machar to put a noose of death around his own neck like a fool. I contemplate that this miscalculation would be a catastrophic legal case against him. It remains a daunting and haunting conspiracy against him. Lord have mercy on poor Dr. Riek Machar.
