Rumbek Football Club Emerge Victorious In Australia
The Rumbek Youth Association based in Sydney, Australia has officially
announced its achievements on various football tournaments since the
club formation in 2007.

RUMBEK, 16th August, 2011 [Gurtong] - The Rumbek Youth Association
based in Sydney, Australia has officially announced its achievement on
various football tournaments since the  club formation in 2007.

According to the Association Chairman Mr. Magang Chol Mathei’s report
to the Press, since the start of the South Sudan Independence Cup
tournament, Rumbek United has since beaten Ngok United by 5 goals to
0, T.M.T Twic Mayardit by 3 goals to 1, Aweil United by 4 goals to 1.
Yirol and United by 3 goals to 0.

Rumbek United played against Twic Mayardit in the finals yesterday
resulting to a 1-1draw for both teams. The South Sudan Independence
Cup finals match was attended by more than 300 spectators including
Official Community leaders, Youth leaders, Elders and Supporters.”

Rumbek United Football Club in Sydney NSW was formed at the beginning
of 2007 under the Rumbek Youth Association in Diaspora.

Mr. Chol added that in 2007, Rumbek United won the first trophy which
was organized by African Australian Federation Football. In 2008 they
emerged second runners-up during the Bahr-el-Gazal Tournament. In 2010
Rumbek United won the tournament dubbed ‘Southern Sudan and other
Marginalize Areas’. In August 14th 2011, the club won the New Republic
of South Sudan Independence Cup that was organized by the Chairman of
the South Sudan Federation Association.

“Rumbek United Football club sailed to the finals unbeaten with 7
matches in the South Sudan Independence Cup, it is unbelievable,” he
joyously expressed.

Rumbek United Club consists of the Manager -Chieng Majak Malok;
General Secretary -Mangar Chol Mathei who is also the Acting Coach;
Secretary of Finance -Matoch Gorjok; Secretary of Public Office -Maker
Mangar Majak; Secretary of Information -Sabit Makur Agok; Former
Coaches Justin Bol Mabor and Jaden Ismail.

The club players include Captain -Lat Mathiang Bol; Vice Captain
-Akolde Makeny; Marial Mangar Majak, Maker Mangar Majak, Makuoi Meen
Mapour, Veteran Magang Chol Mathei, Bol Mapour Gorjok, Agar Mangar
Majak, Amal Mangar Majak, Jima Makur Maguen, Bol Wol Malual, Zach
Makeny, Bakic Matur and Youngest player Jido Wol.

According to Mr. Magang Chol Mathei, Rumbek United Football Club’s aim
of existence is to motivate and promote young talents and to encourage
youths to stay away from the streets just idling. The club also aims
to create and promote unity among the Rumbek youths both at home in
Lakes State and in the Diaspora.
