By James Deng Dimo WAU, 18th August 2011 [Gurtong] - A delegation from the SPLM General Secretariat in Juba, led by acting Deputy Secretary Hon. Antipas Nyock and assisting Planning Secretary Mr. Arkangelo Anyar Anyar arrived in Western Bahr el Ghazal State on Tuesday to launch the party’s massive campaign on national building. The national building campaign was unveiled a month after declaring the Republic of South Sudan independent on the July 9th 2011 and also based on the party’s long struggle to liberate South Sudanese “The party’s massive campaign is geared towards maintaining unity in diversity of it people and promoting development heritage through agricultural approaches,” Antipas Nyock told the caucus meeting in Wau the capital of Western Bahr el Ghazal State. The caucus was attended by the State Governor Hon. Rizik Zackaria Hassan, Deputy Governor Efisio Kon Uguak and all the State Assembly members headed by Andrea Mayar Acho as well as the SPLM State secretariat headed by Kamil Wana Uraj. Speaking during the meeting, Hon. Antipas Nyock called on the people of South Sudan, particularly the people of Western Bahr el Ghazal State to unite in building the new nation. As part of the new upcoming government, the SPLM political party will also be reformed right from the General National Secretariat and throughout the States. “This is to nurture professionals who can work towards empowering people in the spirit of Nation Building,” Hon. Nyock stated. “Now that we have achieved our independent nation, we need to distinguish ourselves from tribalism which has now remained to be another war in South Sudan,” he added. Nyock warned the SPLM members within the political party, who are architectures of political instability; they work hard for the downfall of others for the sake of taking over powers. “There is a need for us to focus mainly on unity and development for the sake of our country...Our mission in the leadership of SPLM is to provide equal service delivery to the people of South Sudan,” he affirmed. Nyock also called on South Sudanese to be part of the economic transformation, which is transformation from subsistence economy to market economy in order to ease the economic crisis currently affecting the new nation. After the meeting in Western Bahr el Ghazal State, the delegation will tour all the ten States but will first cover the greater Bahr el Ghazal States this week.
