WAU, 26th September 2011 [Gurtong] – The Minister for Physical
Infrastructure and Urban Construction development in Western Bahr el
Ghazal State, Hon. Juliet Raphael has revealed to Gurtong that 19
projects sponsored by the State government in Wau will soon be
accomplished.

The undergoing development projects in Western Bahr el Ghazal State
were the constructions of 16 Payam headquarters and two courts, the
Wau town court and one in Jur River as well as one Clinic at Wau South
and the current undergoing Dr. John Garang Bridge which links Wau
South City to Wau North of Daraj market, the Minister clarified.

These projects also include the undergoing civil construction of Wau
town water plan project which is due for completion by the end of
December this year. The water project will provide the entire citizens
living within the State with clean drinking water.

“We are also taking the advantage of completing the 40% pending
projects that were supported by the Unity support project funds,
including the senior secondary school of Kuajiena Payam,” she said.

By mid this month, the State government launched one of the complete
projects -the Kuajiena Payam head office and promised that others
would follow soon.

The Western Bahr el Ghazal State government allocated 1.4 million
South Sudanese pounds and other supporting funds received from the
National Government of the Republic of South Sudan for the Payam
headquarters constructions.

“We still haven’t completed the projects since we were hit by the high
inflation rates as prices of some construction materials were absurd,
we are still requesting the National Government to support us in
realizing our goals,” said Hon. Juliet.

The Minister said that the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Urban
Development and Constructions in Western Bahr el Ghazal is now
strategically planning to have in the future, projects that deal with
constructing public houses in instalments basis if the State
Government appended the deal.
