Tim, When I add a host, I will follow up with a manual discovery. >From that list I select only the interfaces that have a cable attached to it (and working) it will tell you in one of the columns that appears also that if the interface is up or up/down. I am selecting the ones that are up.
If you plug out the cable you will get a red warning on the host , saying that interface x is down.
