Tim,

When I add a host, I will follow up with a manual discovery.
>From that list I select only the interfaces that have a cable attached
to it (and working) it will tell you in one of the columns that appears
also that if the interface is up or up/down. I am selecting the ones
that are up.

If you plug out the cable you will get a red warning on the host ,
saying that interface x is down.

Isn't that what you want? You don't want these interfaces alarming?
You could always set "Fixed Admin Status" and then set the Show column
to "Mark Disabled"

The main problem is, how would something tell if an interface is down
because its dead over an interface is down because you don't have
anything plugged into it and never have had.
