What caused the corruptions, i.e. how did the partition get into the state 
it is now? Power loss? Disk errors? Kernel panics?

Your system clock is a bit off, please set it to current date & time, I'm 
not sure if jfsutils has any ill effects when running with a weird time. 
Btw, jfsutils-1.1.14 is available, you might want to try this version 
instead.
