It's mentioned in the FAQ, certainly.  I was just browsing through it
yesterday, and it says that NFSv2 will not work reliably at all, and
that, while NFSv3 is better, it still has problems.  The rest of your
message seems to indicate that the FAQ author's pessimism about NFSv2
is perhaps overstated, so maybe the FAQ needs to be updated too.

What I _would_ like to see is whether these issues are fixable and if
anyone intends to fix them.  While Intermezzo may be a great solution
for a Linux-only environment, it's not viable when you are using
FreeBSD, Solaris, and others too.
