Hello,

I also use Open Book with success and find no problem with reading PDF docx.
There was an update which I installed a couple of months ago. I found the
update by going to check for updates under the OB help menu.

I have also used Text Cloner but find it not as good as OB.

Hello Wanda,
I have enjoyed little success with OCR over the last couple of years, but
having recently acquired Open Book I have yet to come across a PDF document
I could not read easily using the Freedom Import Printer. So far I am quite
pleased with it.After reading your letter I wonder if I need to change a
setting in OCR.
Cheers Kevin.

I actually did a comparison between the JAWS OCR and the Freedom Import
Printer available in OpenBook. I used the same document for both, so there
are no variables. I got better results with the JAWS OCR feature. Any ideas
out their why this might be? Do I possibly need to change a setting in
OpenBook? Thanks.

I've used this three times in the past week or so (all journal articles that
had been scanned, uploaded to the publisher's database and never had OCR
applied - only the abstracts appear as text).

Recognition results were reasonably accurate in all cases - a small sample,
of
course.
