It always amazes me how fast people are to expect that something get shut down on a mailing list. The Internet isn't as uniform as folks like to think it is, and messages may come in at different times or someone may still be trying to get to the cease and desist message when they respond. It is always a good idea when trying to maintain any social interaction, especially in a medium where where emotional cues are weak or even absent, to be tolerant of others and give them the benefit of the doubt. Also, list cops are never welcome. If someone has a problem with a particular topic it's best to bring it to the attention of the list moderator or owner instead of turning into a sidewalk supervisor. Moderators exist for this reason, and it's their responsibility to take care of these problems.
