I, for one, an incredibly busy both professionally and personally, and
simply don't have the time to join lists and read e-mails from all the
potential lists out there every day.
In addition, from a purely personal perspective, this is a very timely
topic
for me, since I am just about to take the leap into a smart phone, and
need
to be as informed as possible, given the limited time I have to do all
the
necessary research.
There are people on this list who are far more knowledgeable about this
topic than I am, and I truly do appreciate the insights.
When I retire from my college professor position (hopefully in a couple
years), I'll have more time to do the needed research myself, but for
now,
I'm relying on the expertise of those who clearly have valuable
experience
to share.

Admittedly, this topic may not directly relate to jaws however I agree
with
Ted that this is a very important topic for the blind. We struggle every
day to be more efficient with our devices and our phones are key in that.
I
am too learning an awful lot by the thread. I don't know if jaws offers
a
UI for phones but if it doesn't then I'd like to hear more about this
topic

This is totally incorrect. Android has a screen reader called
Talkback, and it has had this for some time. Mobile Accessibility did
make things easier, but it isn't necessary anymore. In fact, I don't
even know if it's still available.

One thing to consider here is that the IPhone comes with a
screenreader and the Android does not. When I was looking into it the
screenreader for the Android was about 100 bucks, though that may
vary, and may have changed since then. I went with the IPhone and am
glad I did.
