My husband had a career in graphic arts, and he says that everything is
ridiculously graphic these days - more and more. It would seem to me, that
unless the screen maker manufacturers were given the schematics from the
point of design of these programs and changes, they are really having to
struggle to cope with the real world that we are facing from day to day.
I, for one, wish that a computer user could have the option to get into a
program with a graphic waver. Then it would be an easy road for JAWS and
other screen readers. It does look like to me, that there could be some kind
of graphic filter, but I was just a secretary and medical transcriptionist
with imagination, guess I'd have to ask my husband and some other smart guys
like some of yall if anything like that could even be possible. I can see
that for maybe 99 percent of the market that idea would have no appeal at
all, so it would be a problem to market such a filtering system. These
programs are designed by men, so can be modified, altered, rebuilt, so it
does seem that screen readers could operate a lot smoother if there could be
graphic filters of some sort.

You know, with all the hardships that I read within this EList, especially
regarding Netflix and other such sites-I know I'm having my share of woes
regarding these-I think the fault lay not only with sites like Netflix
that
change configurations as often as they change their underwear, but also
with
Freedom Scientific for not keeping the programs compatible and current

a lot of new programs and changing graphics. If screenreaders were able
to
recognize changing graphics, I think things would be a lot more
accessible.
No one saw this Netflix change coming; I mean, the site is definitely
changed completely to the point where I cannot find my DVD queue; if they
were phasing out the DVD queue, news of this should have been announced to
subscribers long ago, but if this is merely a configuration issue where
more
is made of graphics, well, then I guess that, right now, they'll lose a
lot
of subscribers who can't figure out the situation, but my hope is that
screenreading software is keeping up with the times, because they're
certainly *NOT* slowing down for us.
