Carolyn: Many of the tasks you mentioned would not be things that I would do. However, I have no difficulty with "first letter navigation" in Outlook 2013 with JAWS 16, in a Windows 8.1, 64-bit environment.

That as they say is an oldy but goody. However, in outlook 2013, one has the ability to only display all or unread messages.
