Mike B just noted that once in the ribbon, you can get JAWS to repeat a key tip, or shortcut, by pressing JAWS key+tab. There'll be extraneous verbalization, but then the shortcut is announced.
One more note. I tested the ribbon shortcut to open a file in Word, which is alt, f, o. Normally, I just press control-o, the true shortcut. But following the JAWS key tip, I pressed alt, waited for JAWS to announce where I'd landed, then f, paused again, then o. The "open" dialog appeared.
