Hay go ahead forward them emails to HJ you are probility not the first
person to do so that is if they dont already have them. It seems to be
in aggrement none of us like the copy protection scheme of the key
system and if not by mistake we accidently lose one.
I am sure if we didnt want our conversation or letters to get back to
HJ then we wouldnt post to a list that they use and second it is
archrived on the universitys server for later retrival for thoes that
missed the posts.
I can see why HJ protects the demo but after you pay a grand for
software why should we still have the limitations? If they are afraid
Rehab centers and what not would install one copy on all of there
systems, then they are a little too late at lease for JFD to my
knowledge. And if they copied one copy of JFW or JFD what about the OS
and other applications? I think they should leave the copy problem to
the same agencys that govern the rest of the software folks and
institutions use. Second the copy protection isnt going to prevent
reverse engineering just using more then the amount of keys of copies
open at once.
My personal grip was when I was refused my money back during the
disaster of JFW 1.0 and 1.21 with windows 3.1. If the product cant
perform as designed then I would like to invest in another screen
reader.
However, I am in agrement of the printer block as a copy protection
system if one was necessary, I wouldnt mind paying an additional fee or
sign a paper agreeing I will not pirate the copy of JFW I have
purchased.
I have heard of no problems from friends that use autocad and the other
cad cas software that uses these systems. You can go to www.rainbow.com

actual hardware lock that is about half an inch thick that attaches to
the printer port and functions as a pass though for any other device can
work too. You can install the software on the systems you are going to
use then you just unplug the block and plug it in to the new system
instead of moving keys.

I never saw you write anything like that, I don't think I missed any? I
didn't intend for a gigantic discussion about not cracking software, I
just wanted to ask that we not discuss it on the list.
the person I originally asked not to discuss it , Shannon, is probably
feeling bad enough as it is. it makes me feel awful thinking she feels
this way. she was, and still is a good friend of mine from high school.
We both wen't to the Washington State School for the Blind,I hadn't
heard
from her in three years or so. we saw each others address on the list,
and she noticed my phone number in my signiture and called me. if I knew
that THIS SUBJECT would cause such a big discussion, I would have not
sent this message. I think the point is recieved, can we please drop
thesubject?
This list sure has helped me, I have been asked to configure JFW for my
libraries card catalog on the PC. if it works, blind or visually impared
people who don't have computers will not only have access to the catalog
of books, but they will also be able to have an email account and brows
the web. I wish I had this when I didn't have a computer.
on the same note, the list also knows how to discurrage people. if I
didn't get hired with this library on wednesday and know this list has
helped me so much, I would be unsubscribed when I saw my email on friday
Pleas Think before you send a message. will it help or hurt the blind
comunity. I am deciding at this moment wether or not to forward the
series of messages to HJ. write me privately and convince me not to. I
will decide in a week.
