That's a legitimate gripe about not getting your money back for
a product that won't work on your machine, regardless of the company.
I would not fault someone for "playing the blind card" in getting such 
a refund. The key in such a situation is making a big enough stink, or
threatening to, that refunding your money would cost the company
less than if they didn't.  Things like writing your state's
attorney general, writing the Better Business Bureau of the
city that the company is in, writing your state's blind school, and
department of vocational rehab.  Bad public relations with all
those places would cost a company more than the price of one copy.
