Hello to all,
I know the subject of authorization has been rather heatedly discussed
and debated here lately, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to add more
fuel to the fire.
I've got a double partitioned hard drive, I'm using partition magic and
have made a partition for windows 95 and one for windows 98. I've
installed a copy of jfw 3.2 on each partition and added a key to both, so
I have a key on drive c: and one on drive d:
well, I decided tormorrow I'm going to remove the 95 partition and just
go straight 98, this is a definite symptom of my insanity, so I copied
all the data I need over. Then I decided just to be safe and ensure I
don't forget I'll copy the auth key off drive d: back to floppy.
I'm using the new authorization system the sqcps, the one with hjauth
and the jfw.cps key, and I still don't see an emergency recovery
mechanism in dos, btw hj, and I tried to remove the authorization key.
The first error I got said that hjauth could not remove the contents of
the authorization directory, whatever that means, I thought I was dealing
with a file. I then tried it on c: and it said no authorization found on
hard drive. I checked both drives, both indeed have a file called jfw.cps
on them, back to hjauth, and this time I got the error:
no authorization found on both drive d: and c:
Now, first of all, I do not have an auth disk in the a: drive when I
boot this thing, so those keys are there. Hjauth says I have one that's
the number 1, key left on this disk. Now, I'm a little upset, one key I
lost when I forgot to remove it before repartitioning my hd, that was my
fault, another got hit by a virus, before I got norton on 98,
unavoidable, that leaves one on the floppy, and two on the hd, I am not
happy about loosing two.
