There are several key conflicts with JFW in the outline format. We have created script files where these key conflicts exist. These script files contain the JFW pass-through keystroke, information describing the action, and the keystroke needed in outline view. We have stayed with the original keystroke and added the control key. For example, if the keystroke was alt+shift+left arrow the keystroke is now control+alt+shift+left arrow. Be careful with transitions. Do not attach transitions with the text flows across the screen in any way. Random Transitions is an excellent transition to attach. This transition should be applied to the entire presentation. Do not allow other individuals to be "helpful" and attach additional transitions to your presentation. Attaching the visual information (Presentation Design) is the last step of the PowerPoint presentation. Always obtain a braille copy before attaching the visual information. Be sure to do a Select All before attaching the design. A Presentation Design should be attached that is not active. Fireball is a good example of a Presentation Design to apply. Later in this document we have listed the Presentation Designs which may cause problems with speech access. JFW seems to do a better job of reading the screen when a static Presentation Design is attached. New Slide & JFW Frame Select Blank Presentation The user is presented with a series of slides. Text information concerning these slides is in the lower right corner of the dialog box. Set a JFW frame over this text information. Set Echo to All. We have used the Title slide and Bulleted List slide extensively. We are just starting to use Text & Clip Art and Clip Art and Text. Microsoft PowerPoint Outline Keystrokes Promote a paragraph: Alt+Shift+Left Arrow (Key Conflict) Demote a paragraph: Alt+Shift+Right Arrow (Key Conflict) Move selected paragraphs up: Alt+Shift+Up Arrow (Key Conflict) Move selected paragraphs down: Alt+Shift+Down Arrow (Key Conflict) Collapse all text: Alt+Shift+1 Show all text: Alt+Shift+A Expand text below a single heading: Alt+Shift+Plus Collapse text below a single heading: Alt+Shift+Minus Expanding & Collapsing Slides Alt-Shift-1 will collapse all of the text in the slides and Alt-Shift-A will expand all of the text in the slides. Alt-Shift-Plus will expand all of the text below a single heading and Alt-Shift-Minus will expand all of the text below a single heading. It is necessary to collapse all text if the user wishes to rearrange the slides. Use the ParagraphUp and ParagraphDown commands listed below to rearrange the slides. Never rearrange the first slide, as that is always the title slide! These problems occur when the individual is making the presentation! Random Access is the only transition that we can safely recommend for speech access. This transition should be applied to the presentation. Enter Alt-D for Slide Show Enter T for Slide Transition The focus lands on Effect. Enter W then R to quickly go to Random Transitions. Tab to "Apply to All" or enter Alt-T Do not allow other individuals (sighted) to be "helpful" and attach additional transitions to your presentation! This has been a very common problem! Applying Designs The design should always be applied after the presentation is finished. Enter Control-A to select the entire presentation. Enter Alt-O for Format. Enter Y to Apply Design. Enter Shift-Tab to go back to the list of Designs. Use the up/down arrow keys to select a Presentation Design. Always select a design that is static. Recommended Designs That Are Static Angles Blush Contemporary Portrait Dads Tie Fans Serene Fireball Meadow Notebook Portrait Notebook Professional Zesty Designs that are not static. Not recommended! High Voltage Pulse Ribbons Whirlpool Inserting A Picture Select either the "Text with Clipart" or "Clipart with Text" slide. Open an Overlay Maker or IntelliPics file. These are the only programs that we are aware of that have a picture library that is accessible with speech. Enter Ctrl-Y to open the picture library and select a desired picture. Press <enter> Alt-Tab to PowerPoint and paste the picture into the slide. Viewing the Slide Show Enter Alt-D to View the Slide Show View Show is the first option, press enter to accept this option. Press enter to go through the slide. Make sure that only Random Transitions are selected. It is efficient to write a basic JFW script to hear the information that is on the screen. Attach Random Transition Go to Outline View Type "Russia In Transition" in the Title Field Create a new slide and go to Bullet List. Go to Outline View and enter the following information.
