I have three items this time, friends. The first was brought to my
attention by none other than Nick Allen, the founder of this particular
feast. Are the "FROM" lines on my messages really identifying me as "Enter
your name here"? If so, how do I fix this. I'm using Outlook Express and
can't figure out how to get at to the place to modify this. I'm also trying
to make the lines in my message shorter and having no success. Since these
are not strictly JFW issues, please reply privately in response to these.
The JFW content has to do with a problem I'm having with JAWS losing focus
in Internet Explorer and jumping to the taskbar. This usually starts
happening after I've launched a Real sound file over the Net and then closed
Real Player. I'm running JFW 3.20.31 and Windows 98 on a Gateway GP6-400
with 64MB of RAM and a SB PCI64 sound card. The version of IE I'm using is
4.01.
This next may also be borderline as to subject matter so please forgive me
in advance if you can. I'm trying to run JAWS for DOS as my screen reader
and so far have had to switch to MS-DOS mode to get it to work. For a while
I had the program in my AUTOEXEC.BAT file but the computer squawked at me so
much after JFD had loaded and before Windows was loading that I was afraid
there wasn't enough memory left to allow Windows to load completely, and I
removed JFD from AUTOEXEC.BAT. Running the MEM command from DOS indicates
that upper memory is unavailable. Is there a command I can put in
CONFIG.SYS that will optimize upper memory so I can put JFD up there and get
it to run whenever a DOS program is run on my PC? I declare, the more I
fool with all this technology, the more like a greenhorn I feel. Thanks for
your help.
