DOS 5, 6, and PCDOS 7 all came with a dandy optimizer. The 98 incarnation is such a pathetic case of crippleware, this useful feature probably isn't in there, although I could not say for certain without looking. Anyway, QuarterDeck (I think they were bought out not long ago) and a couple of other companies used to make fine after-market products, so you might check with a local dealer.
