double messages

Hellow Listers,

On Sonday, I down loaded my email and got doubles of several messages.
this has happened before but I thought  my server was acting silly.
However I checked and they said they only send what is emaile.d.  I knew
this but checked anyway.  

I know I can  just choose not to open the given message if it has the same
subject line as another.  But how can it be stopped to reduce clutter?
