actually just the opposit is true.
we had a text version unfortunately the way e mail works is that a mail box is
really one single file.
the user sees it as many files, but in reality it is one file
with a second file called toc, or table of contents.
the toc file makes it appear like you have more than one file.
so the text version resulted in more complaints to me than the eudora version
did.
so i zapped it and got rid of it.
so printing it in text results in a message that is a mile long,
while in e mail format it is like haveing quick access to each chapter or
lesson.
so if you load your e mail program off line, one can go into the software mail
box which is really a folder on their system and have
information to dozens of tips.
all neetly arranged.
in individual mail boxes
then one can work in one program then alt tab back and forth to the message or
lesson in eudora.
once people see it in their e mail program they quickly see that access is its
biggest advantage.
by the way these files are not supposed to be a regular faq, i only provided
them as a source of information to go along with the faq.
the person in charge of writeing the typical faq let the ball drop.
most people know that a faq is usually about 5 pages.
my file is more like a 200 page book.
with some mail boxes only have tips from the list, other mail boxes are true
step by step tutorials.
other yet that are hybrids and have both.
the plain tutorial mail boxes present less of a problem makeing a text file
than the tip folder.
here is why, because i hand pick each message because i think it is a good
answer.
so i store it in the mail box, remember that their may be several messages
underneath that all in the single message.
so as one hits reply that makes 2 messages, and it is possible for it to have
as many as 8 differant people all in the same message.
because people keep hitting reply.
the top answer in that message is the reason i picked it in the first place,
and the other stuff could cause
confusion.
so when it gets printed in text the user has a bunch of messages that are not
picked by me for accuracy.
and if you print with no header info no way to tell the real facts from the
miss information.
any volunteers to edit a 200 page book?
by the way both outlook express and outlook 98 have a wizard that automates the
import option of the files.
not sure as to why users of these programs can not use this option.
so bottom line here is that this file really has very little information on
useing jfw, instead it is instructions on applications.
so as a jfw faq it falls short, as a quick access tool, or as a tool at all it
pretty must stay in e mail format to be
useful.
barring somebody wanting to spend about 2 months just editting this file.

i do intend to include those instructions with the next upload, probley friday.
plus all the other instructions.
they will be in text so anybody can read them.
my advice is that the end user get a person that can do this if it is over
their head.
personally i have not tested these outlook instructions, only know that the
authors are some of the more
knowledgeable users on this list.
also not sure why the people having trouble did not ask how to do this to the
list.
