Can anyone shed any light on the following? I was helping a friend to
upgrade from jfw 3.0 to jfw 3.2. All went well until trying to authorise
jfw 3.2. A message cam up to the effect that the authorisation on the hard
disk was not compatible with that on the authorisation disk. The
installation asked if we wanted to modify the authorisation key to which we
replied yes.
We unloaded jaws 3.0, started jaws 3.2, checked the run jaws first option
and then as all seemed to be working well we restarted the PC to check that
everything started ok.
When jfw started, we were prompted to initialise the braille driver (for
powerbraille 80) and the were presented with a message to the effect that
the authorisation was invalid. We therefore shut the machine down again and
attempted to restart jfw with the authorisation disk in the 'a' drive. At
this point we were requested to initialise the braille driver, and then were
told that jaws had performed an illegal operation and would be shut down.
This then led to a message along the lines that we should press
ctrl+alt+delete and restrat the computer.
I would like to know a way of preventing jaws from crashing so spectacularly
and a way of upgrading the authorisation keys. Incidentally, when I
upgraded my own machine, I was prompted to update the authorisation, but
everything then worked fine.
