What you *can* do and what's probably the smart thing to do are not always
one and the same. As far as I know, H-J still says to do a key move
before defragmenting the hard drive. On the other hand, Scandisk <not a
defragmenter, but one of the programs that *might* mess things up> runs
every time Windows is abnormally terminated and has never messed with my
key. However, I would never, never, never run a true defrag program
without first using emove to move my key back to the authorization disk.
This only takes a minute or so and is really the only safe way to live.
Putting it back takes only another minute, so it's not a big deal.
