Thanks very much to those who replied, however just to clarify (I hope)
the problem.
The BLite 40 seems to be working quite adequately in a DOS box purely as
a display; where the problem is is in trying to use the Perkins-style
Braille keyboard to input to the computer. From what Alan says
(assuming that this is a definitive answer (no offence intended, Alan)),
it would seem that there is nothing my friend can do to force the
BLite/JFW combination to allow Braille input in a DOS box. That's a
shame!
