It depends why you wish to put jaws to sleep. If you wish to put jaws to
sleep while using an other application with it's own speech, you will
execute that application and then press insert-numrow6 to bring up the jaws
configuration manager and open the application's .jcf file. at this point
you will press the alt key and arrow once to the right and down arrow to
advanced settings. press enter there and the first option is to check or
uncheck sleep mode. It will probably be unchecked. press the spacebar and
it will be checked and then press enter. press ctrl-s to save the new
settings and alt-f4 to exit the configuration manager. jaws should be
asleep now and your application will operate without speech whenever it is
launched.
