I suspect that what is happening is that you are pressing the initial
letters rapidly. In other words, you may not be giving enough time for
the highlight to be focused on the new item before JFW attempts to
speak it. If this is what is happening, simply slowing down just a
little will solve your problem.

Hi all, I followed the instructions in this message to the letter, but

still have, on one of my computers, in the start menu, times when after
pressing a letter to get to a program, the computer says nothing. For
example, I press o, and it says "Online services. I press the second
O, and
it says nothing. I know that it is Outlook, so I know to press Enter,
but,
this doesn't always work. Sometimes, I have to go up, then down, and
so on
to find out what the menu item says. Even though this is simply
inconvenient for me, it exasperates the heck out of my students. If
anyone
has any suggestions, I would very much appreciate hearing them. Thank
