I didn't fin d CoolEdit Pro's demo to very workable with Jfw. 
You sort of hit the nail on the head, its basic functions are available to us
but none of the "Editing" is really very "cool" for us. 
CakeWalk is an alternative, but I've heard other people mention Sound Forge and
FastEddit as being quite speech friendly.
