Hi all I'm forwarding this from hj. Note that the file in question is also available from the jfw web page http://jfw.cjb.net/files32 Regards Nick [EMAIL PROTECTED] ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Mon, 29 Mar 1999 16:38:25 -0500 From: Eric Damery Subject: Explanation of JFW 3.2 - Eloquence problem on European Systems For Distribution as needed: On March 28 when Europe switched over to Daylight Savings Time, Eloquence stopped working with JFW on European systems. Without any intervention, it will start working again on April 4 (the day the U.S. switches to daylight savings.) A new Driver (eloq.jls) has been posted to allow Eloquence to run properly in Europe with JFW 3.2 at all times. It can be downloaded from the following locations: OMNI PC in Germany, ftp://ftp.omnipc.de/public/jfw3.2/ Sight and Sound in the UK, ftp://ftp.sightandsound.co.uk/Eloquence/ If you don't have Internet access and need to use Eloquence until a disk can be sent, you have the following options: either set your time zone to one of the U.S. time zones or Change your clock either before March 28, 1999 or after April 4, 1999. This problem resulted from the fact that JFW and Eloquence were developed using two different C++ compilers. Eloquence used Borland's and JFW used Microsoft's. For proper operation, JFW and Eloquence must get the identical answer when asking the system for the current time. During this one week of the year in Europe, the Borland compiler returns a different current time than does Microsoft's. The updated driver takes this fact under consideration. This will not be a problem with JFW 3.3 since the new version of Eloquence also uses the Microsoft compiler. Henter-Joyce would like to apologize for any inconvenience this problem has caused for our customers and Dealers. We would also like to thank OMNI PC in Germany for reacting swiftly on Sunday by contacting Henter-Joyce Development giving us an opportunity to fix the problem on the same day.
