Excel and the chart wizard button

Hi all,
    I am trying to use excel for a class I am taking in college.  After I
make my rows and columns I am suppose to press the chart wizard button on
the standard tool bar.  When I do this JFW quits speaking.  The only way I
can get it to speak again is to close excel with an alt+f4.  The same thing
happens if I go through the format menu and select charts that way.  I tried
uninstalling and reinstalling exel, but it made no difference.
Help please!
