I suggest you uninstall your outlook express and reinstall it.

Thanks for responding. The delete key always worked well until yesterday,
Sunday, 3/28/99.
When I hit Deletekey, the message comes out:
'Selected messages cannot be deleted, an error has occurred.'
When I first go to Outlook Express, it asks if I wish to compact to save
space.
If I reply Yes, it begins to do its thing but cannot for it says,
'the program has performed an illegal operation, contact the vendor.
I'm now up to 300 messages in teh Inbox.
I don't know what else to try.
I thought Nick might have a suggestion.
What about it, Nick?
