The procedure for this is as follows:
1) Launch NotePad and type in the following lines: (this assumes that Open
Book is installed in C:\OpenBook\)
REM ---Automates JFW/OpenBook switch ---
START.EXE /W C:\JFW32\JFWKILL.EXE
START.EXE /W C:\OPENBOOK\OPENBOOK.EXE
C:\JFW32\JFW.EXE
REM ---End of file ---
2) Save this file as a DOS batch file. (In this example, I'll use
"C:\Switch.bat" as the filename.)
3) Hit Control+Escape and then a single Escape. This should put you on the
Start Button.
4) Hit Shift+F10 and select "Open" from the resulting menu.
5) Hit Alt+F and select "New" from the File menu, then arrow down to
"Shortcut" and whack Enter.
6) At the command line, type the full path to that batch file you just
created, then whack Enter; In this example, it would be "C:\Switch.bat",
(without the quotes).
7) Give the new shortcut a name--we'll use "Switch!"--and whack Enter.
8) Now, hit the End key, or use up/down arrows to locate that new shortcut,
and once it is hilighted, hit Alt+Enter to enter the Properties of that
particular shortcut.
9) Control+Tab once to get to the "Program" tab/panel.
10) Tab down to the field "Working:" and type "C:\OpenBook", then Tab down
to the line that states "Close on Exit" and hit SpaceBar to check this item.
11) Tab to "Ok" and whack Enter, then hit Alt+F4 to exit the Start Menu
editing session.
Try selecting that new shortcut and see if it unloads JFW, and launches Open
Book. If it does, then quit Open Book and see if it reloads JFW.
There may be a simple explanation on why your OB and JFW aren't
co-habitating without the use of this type of switching, and I'd suggest
contacting HJ and Arkenstone to try to locate the problem's source, but in
the meantime, this method should work for you.
If I'm missing something in this example, hopefully someone will pipe in
with a fix!
