Dear JFW Listers,

Have any of you had any problems with JFW 3.2 and the DecTalk PC or PC2 internal speech synthesizers when certain software programs are installed?

My specific problem is this:  Before installing McAfee anti virus or the SPSS 8.0 software programs, my Micron P266 system worked fine with JFW 3.2 and either the DecTalk PC and PC2 running either the 4.2b or 4.2c drivers.  Once, I installed McAfee anti virus, I immediately got a "Windows Protection Error" message on boot up.  I have found that by removing the DecTalk driver lines from the autoexec.bat file, the system boots fine.  I have also found that by replacing the DecTalk driver lines and removing the McAfee lines from the autoexec.bat file it works fine.  But when the two are in the autoexec.bat file together, nothing but Windows Protection Error messages happens.

I have also found that this same problem seems to manifest itself when the SPSS 8.0 program is simply installed on the system, not even running.  Presently, I am using the system with a software synthesizer and don't have any problems with either DecTalk Access 32 or Eloquence.  However, neither of these synthesizers can keep up so I need to figure out a solution to this problem.  So far, I have stumped the tech support folks at HJ, McAfee, Micron, and Microsoft.  My suspicions are that the guys from Micron are closest with their suggestion that this might be related to a conventional memory conflict.

I would sure appreciate any help anyone could give me with this problem so I could once again use my DecTalk PC synthesizers.

Please respond either to the list or to me directly by e-mail at [EMAIL PROTECTED].

Thanks...
