Subject: Jaws for dos and support for the keynote synths.
>Hi There,
>Jaws for dos does not support the keynote synthesisers directly however as
already mentioned on this list you can tell jaws to install the accent
synthesiser and with the help of Pulse Data's accent emulation driver for
the keynote synths, the keynote can be supported. But to allow this
emulation to take place you must get the accent emulation driver
(GOLDDEV.SYS) from either the Pulse data's home page:
>or from the Humanware home page:
>When you have obtained these drivers, put them or extract them into a
directory of your choice and to install it put the following lines into your
config.sys file:
>[common]
>device=drive:\directory\golddev.sys
>with drive being your drive where your directory resides and directory
being the directory where you put the golddev.sys file. E.G. I extracted
the drivers into a directory called golddev and it is on my c: drive.
>[common]
>device=c:\golddev\golddev.sys
>Once you have installed the golddev driver then you should hear your
keynote synth say "goldcard version xxx loaded" or something like that. If
you have successfully installed the golddev.sys driver then you can emulate
an accent synth via your keynote.
>
>When you run the jaws for dos (JFD) installation program and it comes up to
choosing the syth to install jfd for, select the accent pc and ignore the
message when it asks you to insert the floppy disk with the accent drivers
on it. Of course if you want to run jfd with win98 or win95 etc, then say
no to modifying the autoexec.bat and config.sys files.
>I hope this helps some what and any probs then email me privately.
