Jfw 3.3 Beta and User Verbosity

I'm probably doing something wrong but,
i presseed insert+v and got the verbosity menu.
AFter making sure I was on user verbosity, I pressed space until I heard
the word advanced. Feeling cocky, I closed the verbosity dialog or whatever it's called
by hitting the close button. 
The next time I loaded Jaws, it was back to the beginner's level. 
Hmm, Maybe I'm not so advanced as all that after all. 
Any ideas?
