Great, Scott. I'm glad it is finally working!! I think several people told
you to download from the LA server, so I can't take credit for that.-:)
However, I did suggest turning off error correction. When your modem
detects line noise, it waits for confirmation from the remote modem that
what that modem was sending was received, this is called hand shaking. Your
modem has hand shaking with error correction, the modem at the JFW server
may have had error correction disabled, it may have been experiencing a
noisy line, or other such problems. Error correction usually gets rid of
junk characters and allows for better hand shaking, the way the modems
communicate. However, if you're experiencing line noise, error correction
means your modem is waiting for the other modem to send it more info, or it
goes in reverse, that the remote modem is waiting for your modem to tell it
that your modem has received more info. So, to sum up, the problem could
be that your modem and the modem on the JFW server either were experiencing
line noise, or that the JFW modem had no error correction or a different
kind of error correction protocol....Aren't computers fun??-:)
