The autodisconnect is a thing built in to windows 95. It has nothing at
all to do with your connection to the internet. If it's telling you the
connection has been idle for 20 minutes while your are actually in the
middle of a download, then it's a bug in win95 that should have been fixed
years ago.
You can check the option that says "don't use autodisconnect" and this
problem won't happen ever again.
However, your isp also has a setting on their end that will disconnect you
after xx minutes of inactivity, and what's more, your isp's system is
smarter than windows 95 because it knows what inactivity means, i.e, no
getting or sending email, no web surfing, no pinging, and **no downloading*
You do not get a warning that you are about to get cut off, it just does
it. and, furthermore, not all isps will cut you off after the same number
of minutes. Some might cut you off after say. 1hour, some might cut you
off after 45 minutes, they are all different.
