Thank you very much, Jane. I checked my display and the appearance is set
to windows standard and the option highlighted in the text processing area
in the JCF Jaws configuration manager is (highlighted text. So, none of
these areas is the culprit. By the way, Jaws does not speak edit fields in
all programs and not only in a given program. So, my problem may have
something to do either with windows or JAWS.
Warmest thanks to all who have so far contributed an idea or two toward
the solution of my problem and looking forward to more suggestions.
