What can cause JFW not to read menus

Hi listers.
I am using windows 98 and JFW 3.33 beta release.
I re-installed windows98 yesterday. As of then, JAWS stopped speaking menus
in the JAWS window. I hear it say (menu activated when I press the alt key
but nothing afterward regardless of which arrow I press. It also no longer
speaks the names of menus in some programs and certain edit fields when I
cursor over them. What could be the problem and how can I solve it?
