Hi beth. Thanks very much for your input. To answer your questions, I
haven't cleaned out my temporary internet files in a couple days. I will
try that, but I suspect that that may not be the problem for two reasons.
First, using JFW 3.2 does not produce the error, but 3.3 does. second, if
I unload 3.3 and go to a web page and then close IE there is no illegal
operation. As for other programs that are running at the time I always
have the Antiviral Toolkit Pro virus monitor, serv-u ftp server and
BestCrypt encryption software running in the background. This combination
never caused me a problem in JFW 3.2. I admit that I haven't had a lot of
time to troubleshoot this because it is happening on my work machine and I
still have to do what they pay me for while trying to fix this. I emailed
HJ tech support and called them as well. Like typical tech support people
they said this was the first time they had heard of this and gave me the
stock tech support response which was to reinstall JFW, (didn't work), and
to reinstall IE4, (Not possible because the setup program said I already
had the latest IE components and wouldn't let me reinstall and I couldn't
uninstall IE first because it was installed as a part of win98). Thank god
someone else came forward yesterday with the same problem which I forwarded
to HJ to show them this wasn't an isolated incident. As soon as I get to
work I will try your suggestion of dumping the temporary internet files to
see if that helps. AS a sidenote, on my home machine where I am using IE5
I do not have this problem. Unfortunately I can't upgrade to IE5 at work
because we use a client-server database program that interfaces with IE4
and does not work with IE5. Whew! That was probably a lot more than you
had bargained for when you wrote me. <smile> Talk to ya soon.
