Hi Bob and all. I did a search on gdi.exe from the Microsoft Knowledge
base. Apparently, if you are running Adobe Type Manager, Internet explorer
produces the same error as JFW happens with JFW 3.3. Please see the MS KB
article below about how to fix the problem. Before doing any of this, I
suggest placing a copy of your system.ini on a floppy disk as a backup. If
you have any problems when modifying this file, choose not to save your
changes and your old file will be restored or copy your floppy made backup
into your c:\windows directory.

Err Msg: Explorer Caused an Invalid Page Fault in Gdi.exe
The information in this article applies to:
Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 4.0, 4.01 for Windows 95
Microsoft Internet Explorer Plus 4.0
SYMPTOMS
When you install Internet Explorer, you may receive the following error
message:
Explorer caused an invalid page fault in Gdi.exe
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if Adobe Type Manager is installed.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, disable Adobe Type Manager. To do so, follow
these steps:
1. Click Start, click Run, type "system.ini" (without quotation marks) in
the Open box, and then click OK.
2. Locate the "System.drv=ATMSYS" line in the [Boot] section of the
System.ini file.
3. Change the line to read "System.drv=System.drv" (without quotation
marks).
4. Locate the "ATM.SYSTEM.DRV=System.drv" line in the [Boot] section of
the System.ini file.
5. Disable the "ATM.SYSTEM.DRV=System.drv" line by placing a semicolon (;)
at the beginning of the line.
6. On the File menu, click Save.
7. On the File menu, click Exit.
8. Shut down and restart your computer.
9. Run Internet Explorer Setup again.
